Build Real AI Workflows in Excel
The AI-Powered Accountant (AIPA) is a live cohort for accountants and finance pros who are tired of AI demos and want to build the real thing, inside the tool you already live in: Excel. You build on real accounting tasks, taught by three people who actually do this work.
Is AIPA Right for You?
Here's who gets the most out of this cohort, and who doesn't.
This is for you if…
- You do accounting or finance work day to day
- You’re comfortable in Excel and want to push it further with AI
- You’ve tried AI but keep getting generic, surface-level output
- You learn by doing and want to build workflows, not watch a demo
- You care about doing it responsibly: validation, review, and an audit trail
- You want to leave with workflows you can actually use at work
This is not for you if…
- You want a passive, watch-on-2x video course
- You don’t work in accounting or finance
- You work primarily in Google Sheets, not Excel
- You can’t commit a few hours a week to build between sessions
- You want a one-off AI hack, not a repeatable way of working
- You’re an AI engineer already shipping custom production workflows
Why this made my list
I know Lance Rubin. He’s been on my podcast multiple times and is one of the sharpest voices I know on financial modeling and, lately, on where AI actually fits into finance work. So when he built a course where you build real AI workflows in Excel, on the tasks accountants deal with every day, I knew I wanted to add it to my list.

What’s Inside
A live cohort built around one thing: building real AI workflows, in Excel, on real accounting work.
What You’ll Do
Hands-on building in Excel and Power BI, with AI in the loop and a human checking the work.
-
Pick the right tool
Evaluate AI tools for accounting work and learn a framework for choosing the right one per task.
-
Reconcile & validate
Reconcile transactions and build validation checks so you can trust what the AI produced.
-
Reclassify & structure
Reclassify accounts and structure workbooks so the output is consistent and easy to review.
-
Keep it responsible
Handle privacy and compliance, document your work, and build in peer review so it holds up.
-
Roll it out to your team
Build change-management templates for introducing AI workflows to your team, so what you learn doesn’t stay stuck on your own machine.
What You Get
- 6 live working sessions plus 3 self-paced modules across 7 weeks (roughly 20โ32 hours total)
- Real workflows you build yourself on genuine accounting tasks
- A tool-selection framework so you know when to reach for which AI tool, and when not to
- A prompt library and reference resources to build on after the cohort
- Compliance and audit guidance so your workflows stay reviewable and defensible
- Direct access to three instructors who actually do this work: a modeling trainer, an AI researcher, and a finance AI lead
Who’s Teaching It
People who know finance and AI, and use both every day.
With 20+ years in finance behind him, including PwC and KPMG, Lance now runs Model Citizn and trains finance teams on modeling and AI. He’s FMI-certified and wrote AI-Powered Accounting with Excel and Power BI, the same Excel-and-Power-BI approach this course is built on.
Andrew is an AI researcher with work published at NeurIPS and ICLR, and a former quant trader who built trading systems at scale. At TabAI he’s focused on making AI genuinely useful inside the spreadsheet, which is exactly what this course is about.
Iris is a finance-side AI enablement lead and a former EY M&A advisor. Columbia-trained with a master’s in Operations Research, she’s automated IPO and tax workflows and supported $40B+ in transactions, so she knows what “production-ready” really means in finance.
